Everyone who wants to work with him again. Almodóvar, Alex de la Iglesia and Tom Hooper are some of the filmmakers who have not hesitated to trust his hands and in his pen. The latter is responsible for Paco Delgado is nominated for an Oscar, it was he who commissioned the costume of Les Miserables.

The moments before the big day

What feels about his first Oscar nomination?

A tremendous joy and a great honor to have been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in the world of cinema.

How did you learn and who was at that time?

With partner and a friend. I learned through the official website of the Academy of Arts and Sciences.

How Tom Hooper said he wanted to work with you (and it did in The King's Speech, 2010) ?

Well, after working with him in an ad in Cadiz for a brand of rum, told me he liked my work and would like to work with him again. It's that simple.

You said that is too much load we consider the Spanish representative at the Oscars. Would you impose? Are you nervous?

Well, not that, it seems to me too great a burden.

Who will go?

With partner.

Do you already have thought about what will?

Still do not know, but a safe smoking.

In the same week won a bid to Gaudí, a Goya by White, Paul Oscar Berger and Les Miserables. What's life like that, what goes through your head?

Well, as they say misfortunes come together but also joys, apparently.

Talk of Les Miserables

Les Miserables
Why was inspired by Eugene Delacroix and Francisco de Goya for the costumes of Les Miserables?

Well, because I was taught both aspects century XIX that seemed important to the film as the Liberty Leading the People by Delacroix and Goya's black paintings. Both were a great inspiration.

The film has some 4,000 costumes were ordered from France, Spain and Italy? You choose the workshop and equipment to confeccionarlos? Tell this process.

We had a workshop in London where we made a lot of the costumes. Then the actors and figuration distribute it in different places. And regarding the workshops, I who I choose, especially Cornejo in Madrid, which is the house where I work usually costume.

How long did it take to complete all the costumes?

The whole process took nine months. In a period film like this you try to reproduce reality as accurately as possible. But since this is a musical, a surreal situation in itself, we tried to introduce something fancy. It was not easy balance between reality and fantasy.

Is it relies heavily on his team?

Of course, this movie has been possible because behind had a wonderful incredible team of professionals who have worked hard to carry out this project. In addition, Sonia stood by me Isla, my assistant forever, and other partners who often work with me as Ana Ruiz Dorado Rope and Pepo.

Compete for the Oscar against Joanna Hohnston by Lincoln, Jacqueline Durran for Anna Karenina, Colleen Atwood for Snow White and the Huntsman and Eik. or Ishioka Snow White (Mirror, Mirror), one of the most competitive nominations. Do you see many possibilities? In case you do not win, who would you choose?

I do not know, that's very hard to say. And about my opponents all are great "costume designers" (designers) I admire deeply. Really all I think winning films and I am glad not to be in the position of having to choose.

Almodóvar, Alex de la Iglesia, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Tom Hooper .... What manager would most like to work?

Well I would love to repeat with everyone. Each has a special way of working and not give up any of them.

What movie has marveled over his life for costume design?

Visconti's The Leopard without a doubt!

And now a bit of fashion ...

Have you ever thought of engaging in fashion design and create your own signature?

Not ever! Respect fashion too and its creators to get into a world they know.

Is it still in fashion? What designer / to you like best?

The fashion interests me very much, especially the old designers. From before the one I like without hesitation is Balenciaga. Of the current I stay with Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood and Azzedine Alaïa. And the very recent Hedi Slimane.

Do you have something to do, some dream to play (besides winning the Oscar ... in fashion?

Follow on enjoying my career, working in this wonderful world that is the show.

Thank you very much and good luck ... at the Oscars.
